The client’s agenda is at the heart of the coaching relationship. The big picture agenda relates to the client’s whole life and revolves around fulfillment, balance and process.
A few words about the “process,” from the book about Co-Active Coaching that I’m reading…
I love this passage as much for its poetry and imagery as for its truth.
“We are always in process. Sometimes it looks frantic; sometimes it looks graceful. Because coaching is effective at achieving results, both clients and coaches can get drawn into the ‘results’ trap- focusing entirely on the destination and losing sight of the flow of the journey. In fact, process is often compared to a river. As life flows, there will be fast periods of onrushing, white-water progress as well as days of calm, steady currents. But there will also be times of drifting, being stuck in job eddies and relationship whirlpools, and backsliding into treacherous swamps. There will be flooding and drought. The coach’s job is to notice, point out, and be with clients wherever they are in their process. The coach is there to encourage and support, provide companionship around the rocks, and escort clients through the dark waters as well as to celebrate their skill and success at navigating the difficult passages. Coaching allows clients to live more fully in a deeper relationship with all aspects of their lives.”
I welcome the opportunity to be with you and to support you in your process.
